Start with your attitude
Recently I have been looking inward, deep in to my soul and contemplating my life up to this point and where I want to be in the future. Maybe it's my mid life crisis peeking out, who knows. I thought about my attitude in general up until now and whether or not it has been positive or whether it's been negative as a whole. I've come to the conclusion that I am a very positive person at heart but that it does not always shine through. That is until recently.
Through the chance encounter with one of the most positive people I have ever met my eyes were opened and I remember what it's like to lead by example. When I was young, positive attitude oozed from my spirit and as the years have pressed on the positive became cynical. That cynicism influenced many decisions I have made and as well probably influenced those around me. Now in my mid thirties, that cynicism tends to hurt a bit more and I realized it also affects me in a way that I know needs to change. I remember what it meant to be happy and spread good energy to those around me. What you put out in the world you will get back.
With my new mindset I set out to take my life back and the world around me responded in kind. I chose to suppress any negative feelings and channel a more constructive, meaningful direction to my attitude. Immediately my encounters with people took a turn for the better. I met strangers and engaged them with direct eye contact and a greeting and they smiled as if they had never had someone be nice to them. The feeling I got from this made me explode inside with happiness. It was a feeling long lost in time. This attitude also improved my creative side which in turn helped my business as a photographer. If I see the world in a brighter light my photographs reflect my vision.
It will take some time for me to fully rewire my brain so that I am putting positive first but it's a challenge I am willing to take. With it I hope to influence someone else to follow this path. My chance encounter had a big impact in my life and one I hope to share. So if you read this tell yourself to start with your attitude every morning you wake up. Start your day by thinking about the good parts of your life and push a positive vibe in to the world. You will be surprised at what you get back.
