The first rock show of the year

On February 13th, at 9:00pm the first power chords strummed hard at the Almost Kings show at Nightown. The crowd was warmed up to Uncrowned and aFreudianslip as openers. I am a true Rock-n-Roll type of guy growing up in the 80's to heavy metal so the first rock show of 2010 got me pumped up. All three bands brought a tight set and powerful show and the crowd responded with fists in the air.

I love the spring and summer time here, in Destin Florida, because we have a music scene that is growing quietly and up and coming bands like these guys come through here. It reminds me of going to the ROXY and Whiskey a go-go in Hollywood when I was in a band in my twenties. I love an intimate rock show. We have had bands like All American Rejects, Big Boi, Chevelle and  Breaking Benjamin all grace our venues with their music and it was really up close and personal.

Getting paid to photograph the shows is the best part. Sometimes it's hard to avoid getting in to watching the show and not shooting the show and Last night was no different. Almost Kings gave me some great shots because they were always jumping and rocking hard on stage. One of the most stage-powerful band I've seen here in a long time. I love when I get home to view the pictures of the shows because I always get surprised at what I've caught. Some moment in the show where I catch them making the perfect rock star move and my camera ate it up for my enjoyment. This year seems to bet looking good for some really good shows and chances for some good photos. Yes!!
